About The Just For Laughs Film Festival
As the premiere film event of the Just For Laughs Festival presented by Videotron which attracts over 2 million visitors and over 1,000 industry members each summer, The Just For Laughs Film Festival, presented by VISA ® in association with Cineplex Entertainment showcases one of the world’s largest selection of comedy shorts, Hollywood and International film premieres, and a series of star-studded special events.
For our 12th edition, last July, we screened over a hundred and thirty-five short films from around the world, as well as premiering some of this summer’s biggest comedy blockbusters, accompanied by some of the biggest stars in comedic cinema today. Judd Apatow, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Rose Byrne and William H. Macy walked the red carpet and all gave amazing question and answer sessions after their films.
We are about much more than presenting movies, our goal is to promote and celebrate one of the many vehicles in which comedy is spread to people’s hearts and souls. It is also our mission to gather all the members of the comedy world together under one roof, at Just For Laughs, to nurture the most likely as well as the most unanticipated deals and partnerships.
We strive to be the best showcase for comedy filmmakers, writers, directors, and actors from all over the world. We want to provide creative individuals who possess a knack for comedy with the opportunity to get their material in front of key decision makers attending Just For Laughs, as well as agents, managers, producers, and other industry players in the comedy world. Here, comedy films are front and center.
Beyond the festival we work to give exposure to our filmmakers though touring our ‘Best Of’ compilations to other festivals around the world.
